Sustainable Design Work
Introduction
The sustainable design project was the second project we were given for the year, where we were given the brief to create a design for a number of flats.
For my design, I decided on making the private spaces relatively small (mostly studio flats with a few 2–3-bedroom apartments) and create large communal areas for cooking, relaxing and working together as a community. This was in response to the growing number of people working from home both during, and after, the COVID Pandemic, as well as in response to the ongoing housing crisis in the UK. I had researched a number of communal living projects and found the ideas put forward interesting and worth researching further.
